How AI-Powered Quizzes are Transforming Marketing and Client Engagement—Insights from My Conversation with Interact’s Jackie Aguglia

Finding new and exciting ways to grow our audience,  leads and clients for our businesses can be challenging.  We are all exposed to so much marketing that it’s becoming more and more difficult to capture attention and have it lead to business growth.   This blog posts captures the highlights of my recent conversation with Jackie Aguglia, head of partnerships for Interact, the quiz building platform I have been using for my high-converting quiz for over two years, and why I think you might want to consider incorporating quizzes into your small business.

Jackie emphasizes how Interact has integrated A(I which can generate the first draft of a quiz in minutes. When I first heard this, I was fascinated by the potential. My first quiz was created without the use of AI and I can only imagine how much quicker I will be able to create the next one.

AI helps reduce decision fatigue and overthinking, enabling us to focus on refining and personalizing the content to match our brand’s voice and vision.

Creating quizzes is no easy feat; it requires a different level of thinking compared to regular business tasks. But, as Jackie points out, AI intervenes here as well, converting our ideas into quiz formats and freeing us to focus on the creative aspects. This reminded me of the times I’ve struggled to draft the perfect quiz question, only to get bogged down in the technical details. With AI, we can bypass these hurdles and concentrate on what truly matters – engaging with our audience.

Diann and Jackie discuss how Interact has streamlined its tool to focus solely on quizzes, discarding other features like polls and contests due to low usage. However, these functionalities aren’t entirely lost. As Jackie remarks, we can still use the quiz feature creatively to conduct polls and giveaways. This approach simplifies user experience, making it easier to engage with our audience without the distraction of seldom-used features.

Jackie advises starting with one quiz, even if it’s imperfect. This resonated with me because, like many of us, I tend to overthink and aim for perfection, often delaying action. Instead, Jackie suggests building, launching, and then optimizing based on analytics. It’s all about learning and adapting as we go. This advice aligns perfectly with Diann's motto – “Done is better than perfect.”

One of the most unique points Jackie highlighted was the use of quizzes to direct community members to specific areas or resources based on their answers. This idea struck a chord with me because quizzes can act as a guiding tool, helping users navigate complex communities and websites by pointing them to relevant sections. It’s like having a personalized GPS for your website!

Additionally, Jackie stresses the importance of analyzing quiz performance to make improvements. By using data from quizzes, we can gain insights into what our audience prefers and tailor our offerings accordingly.

From a marketing standpoint, Diann and Jackie discuss how the framing of the quiz can impact engagement. Whether we focus on pain points or goals, both approaches can lead to the same segments or categories in our marketing funnel. It’s about understanding our audience and addressing their needs and interests effectively.

Before investing in ads to boost quiz responses, it’s wise to test quizzes organically and analyze their effectiveness. This strategy ensures a better return on investment (ROI) when we eventually run ads. Creating ads that target look-alike audiences, or those who have shown interest in similar quizzes, can enhance the efficiency of our marketing efforts.

The Power of Quizzes in Customer Engagement

Quizzes are not only a tool for attracting cold prospects at the top of the funnel but also for engaging existing clients and helping them make informed decisions. Diann and Jackie provide practical examples, such as segmenting existing email lists for better market research or using quizzes to help customers decide between products or services.

During our conversation, I shared my experience with a quiz that segments audience results into distinct email nurture sequences and workflows.
